1912 Maxwell Messenger Fuel Tank
Although it was small, this was one of the most interesting projects we have done at diamondback. We were to remove about fourteen pounds of gasoline that had turned into a coal-like sludge, without disturbing the existing finish on the exterior of the tank. Luckily there are two straps that hold the tank to the vehicle. Allowing us to cut off one end of the tank to remove sludge and repair the leaks from the inside. After repairs were made we welded the end back onto the tank, keeping the paint cool by welding very small areas, very slowly. After that a little paint on the welds to prevent rust and this tank is functional and still matches the rest of the vehicle.
